Born in Rina-Welschellen, painter, who attended his first studies at the Institute for Arts in Ortisei, South-Tyrol and proceeded studing arts in Cortina D'Ampezzo, Venice and Florence.
During this period Albert Mellauner joins the artists-collective of "South-Tyrolean Abstracts" as an active group they staged a great amount of exhibitions in the Athesia Gallery during the years 1973, 1974 and 1975; in 1973 he mounted a selection of his work in the "Erhard - Gallery" In Bressanone, South-Tyrol , during this period he also exhibits in the "Eccel-Gallery" in Bolzano in 1974.
Afterwards he displays his works in 1981 at the Municipal Museum of Bolzano, and again he presents his paintings in the "Eccel-Gallery", Bolzano in 1982 - both exhibitions are followed by the first monografic catalogue of the artist.
In 1996 he diplays a range of collected works in the " Galerie am Grillhof" in Vill (Austria), in 1997 he also exhibits in Eckerfröde (Germany) at the "Copernicus-Gallery", in 1999 in the Municipal - Gallery in Bressanone and in 2002 at the Municipal Museum in Brunico.
The artists also exhibits in 2004 he shows his new collection at the ArtStudio De Bettin, Gallery for Modern & Contemporary Arts in Brunico where he presents his 2nd monografic cataloque.
A very important step in his life history is surely the actual personal exhibition,
which takes place at the Museum Ladin "Ciástel de Tor" in St. Maritn de Tor in Val Badia, from the 26.01 2007 'till the 23.02.2006, where the artist issues a vaste range of his works and paintings during his 30 years of career as an abstract painter - as the title of the exhibition shows:
Albert Mellauner "geometrical games - 30 years of painting".
During his life he takes part at several group displays, like "Situation 76" at the biannual art-fair in Bolzano, another important exhibition is "Tendencies 84" in Innsbruck, Austria, to mention also his presence at the «Artecclesia» art-fair in Rome in 1994, he attende also to 2005 the "Tras(se) North-South"- exhibition from 20.05 to 05.06.2005 a creative ex-change of artworks between artists of the Gadertal and of the Ahrntal. Finally, in 2006, he takes part at the exhibition "Art & Sacred Rooms" ranged at the Bishopric Museum at the Hofburg in Brixen (I).
